Porn Addiction in Teens

These days teenagers are spending large amounts of time online for homework or entertainment reasons. As a result, parents are finding it increasingly difficult to shield their children from pornography. A study published in the Journal of Pediatrics stated that 42% of internet users aged 10 to 17 have been exposed to pornography. By the time these children reach adulthood, pornography can be a pervasive part of their lives and, for some, this can lead to serious problems, such as porn addiction.

 Treatment:

Teenagers and young adults need  a positive sense of self and validation to eliminate destructive behaviors that tend to be substitutes for love. As they develop a positive perception of themselves through therapy, they are able to develop and maintain positive relationships. In addition, teenagers and young adults will learn and internalize skills to examine personal ways of thinking, learn how they can change their beliefs and attitudes and learn the impact this has on their quality of life and relationships. They become empowered and aware of their own individual potential and unique identity.
